Twisted pairs have two conductors of a single circuit. Twisting the conductors together improves electromagnetic compatibility compared to a single conductor cable found in the most general hook-up wire. Twisted pair cable makes Ethernet networks and telephone systems. Usually unshielded with an insulator of polyethylene or FEP and an outer polyethylene jacket.
When Belden pioneered “bonding,” it changed a single conductor cable to a multi-conductor because each wire pair is bonded together for the cable’s length.
